RUGBY: Trowbridge 5 North Dorset 3
11:30am Wednesday 22nd February 2012
TROWBRIDGE gained revenge for their defeat earlier this season as they upset the Southern Counties South leaders at Green Lane.
The game was spoiled by a heavy rainstorm in the early stages which made handling difficult for both sides and turned the pitch into a quagmire.
Nevertheless both sides attempted to play an expansive game despite the difficult conditions.
The visitors had the upper hand in the early stages but the Trowbridge defence was able to cope and they got into the game with strong runs by both wingers Ashley Chalk and Lewis Jordon.
Ill-discipline saw the home side penalised back towards their own 22 and Dorset scrum-half Robbie Sampson put his side ahead with a penalty from in front of the posts.
The second half saw the home team give a much more disciplined approach and they piled the pressure on.
With the forwards taking control, it came as no surprise when Sean Jones forced has way over the try line for the deciding score.
A Lloyd Davis penalty then hit the post and Sam Edwards had a try disallowed, but Trowbridge secured an excellent win.
